Organizational Context
The Joint SDG Fund, managed by the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO), supports countries in accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It operates through joint programmes, incentivizing coordinated UN action anchored in UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks. The Fund aims to galvanize UN Country Teams around integrated policies and identify fiscal space to overcome hurdles to SDG acceleration.
Job Purpose
The Resource Mobilization Specialist (P4) is crucial for translating the Joint SDG Fund’s strategic priorities into actionable resource mobilization opportunities. This role involves managing the fundraising pipeline, conducting donor intelligence, preparing compelling proposals and donor-facing materials, and supporting day-to-day donor engagement and stewardship. The specialist will generate analytics on funding trends, support high-level engagements, and ensure timely reporting and donor compliance, thereby contributing to the Fund's dual mandate of advancing UN Development System reform and accelerating SDG progress.
Responsibilities
The role encompasses strategic resource mobilization and donor engagement, including supporting fundraising priorities, preparing briefing materials, and managing the donor engagement lifecycle from intelligence gathering to proposal coordination and stewardship. It involves developing and maintaining donor profiles, coordinating communication with focal points, and ensuring compliance with policies. The specialist will also support strategic engagement with Member States and institutional partners, prepare inputs for high-level meetings, and coordinate logistics for advisory group meetings. Additionally, the role requires conducting donor intelligence and financing landscape analysis, supporting donor-facing reporting products, and strengthening internal knowledge management systems for fundraising. Analytical support for resource mobilization strategies, risk assessment, and the development of multi-year plans is also key, alongside facilitating cross-institutional coordination for joint financing opportunities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in resource mobilization within an international development context is required (9 years with a Bachelor's degree). This includes at least seven years of experience supporting or leading resource mobilization for UN Secretariats of global or multi-country funds, with demonstrated donor relations management. Prior experience in a field context on sustainable development is also required.
