Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication, reducing inequalities, and building resilience. The UNDP Ghana Country Office's ICT Unit provides essential technology, connectivity, digital collaboration, and end-user support services to ensure effective programme delivery and business operations. This role supports the ICT Unit within the Innovation & Effectiveness department.
Job Purpose
The ICT Assistant Intern will support the UNDP Ghana Country Office's ICT Unit in delivering technology, connectivity, digital collaboration, and end-user support services. This role is crucial for enabling effective programme delivery and business operations. The intern will contribute to strengthening first-level user support, maintaining accurate ICT inventory records, assisting with the implementation of the Inventory Management System, preparing documentation, and supporting the secure and efficient use of digital tools across the office. The position operates under the direct supervision of the ICT Associate and overall guidance of the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
The ICT Assistant Intern will provide first-level support to staff and users for various hardware and software issues, including laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, Microsoft 365, Teams/Zoom, and email. This involves logging, tracking, escalating, and following up on ICT support requests to ensure timely resolution. Additionally, the intern will support the implementation of the Inventory Management System by validating asset records, tagging equipment, updating custodian assignments, and reconciling physical assets with system records. Responsibilities also include assisting with user account management, onboarding/offboarding processes, shared drive access, and ICT operational reporting. Other duties encompass network/connectivity checks, ensuring meeting room ICT readiness, supporting cybersecurity awareness activities, and creating documentation, user guides, and training materials.
Work Experience
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, Microsoft 365, Teams/Outlook, printer support, networking concepts, Wi-Fi connectivity, ICT asset management, spreadsheets, and user-support documentation is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools is required.
