Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization dedicated to ending poverty, inequality, and climate change. In Panama, UNDP supports national efforts towards resilience, climate adaptation, land degradation neutrality, biodiversity protection, and disaster risk reduction, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This role is within the Nature, Climate, and Energy cluster, focusing on integrated watershed management.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the planning, development, and execution of strategies to promote green businesses and sustainable supply chains within the Panama Canal Watershed. The Associate will foster the creation and strengthening of productive, tourist, and cultural enterprises, with a focus on women and youth. This involves designing integral business models that enhance local territories through sustainable production practices, ensuring food security, and promoting fair trade. The role contributes to the overall project objective of improving the quality of life for inhabitants and ensuring the watershed's environmental sustainability, aligning with national development plans and the SDGs.
Responsibilities
The Associate in Green Entrepreneurships will be responsible for strategic, business, and commercial management, including designing marketing and commercialization models for productive initiatives in the Panama Canal Watershed. This involves developing and implementing workshops, diagnostics, and strategies for strengthening business management and marketing skills for rural associative enterprises. The role also includes designing strategic and operational plans for capital strengthening and monitoring certification processes, brand development, and product registration. Furthermore, the Associate will execute activities to develop and strengthen small producers and their organizations for green entrepreneurships, fostering productive linkages and local economies. Identifying strategic partners from public and private sectors to strengthen these linkages is also a key responsibility.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in areas related to green entrepreneurship, sustainable business development, project management, or community development is required. Experience working with rural communities, associative enterprises, or in environmental conservation projects is highly desirable.
