Technical Analyst For Sustainable Landscape And Commodities [open To Internal And External Applicants]
Organizational Context
UNDP Indonesia, through its Nature, Climate, and Energy department, partners with the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) on the Green Commodities Programme (GCP) and the Sustainable Landscape Programme Indonesia (SLPI). These initiatives aim to drive systemic change in the palm oil sector and promote sustainable natural resource management at the landscape level, fostering collaboration among government, private sector, and communities.
Job Purpose
The Technical Analyst for Sustainable Landscape and Commodities will serve as a crucial operational link between national policy development and landscape-level implementation for the GCP and SLPI projects in Indonesia. This role is vital for strengthening the technical execution of sustainability initiatives, particularly within the palm oil sector. The analyst will coordinate activities across five landscapes, monitor progress, support adaptive management, and ensure alignment between field-level actions and national policy objectives. By facilitating engagement with subnational governments and partners, the position contributes to achieving stronger sustainability outcomes, improving livelihoods, and promoting ecosystem conservation, aligning with UNDP's broader goals for sustainable land use and resource management.
Responsibilities
The Technical Analyst will coordinate and implement technical activities for sustainable agricultural commodities across GCP and SLPI project landscapes, ensuring alignment with objectives. This includes analyzing data to inform decision-making and adaptive management, developing workplans and technical guidelines, and providing substantive inputs for reports and knowledge products. The role involves monitoring field-level implementation, identifying challenges, and recommending solutions. Key responsibilities also include delivering technical assistance and capacity building to stakeholders, facilitating collaboration with landscape partners, and liaising with national and subnational government institutions. Additionally, the analyst will support strategic partnerships, document project results and best practices, and contribute to communication materials highlighting project impacts. The position ensures gender considerations and human rights principles are integrated into all activities.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree are not required to have professional work experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in areas such as sustainable agriculture, commodity value chains, landscape management, or natural resource management.
Skills
Proficiency in computer use, MS Office suite, and web-based systems. Experience with spreadsheet and database software. Demonstrated experience in sustainable agriculture, commodity development (especially palm oil), and landscape/jurisdictional approaches. Experience supporting sustainability standards and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government, private sector, and NGOs. Ability to coordinate activities, facilitate collaboration, prepare technical reports, and support project implementation. Core competencies include achieving results, innovative thinking, continuous learning, adaptability, determination, engagement, and enabling diversity and inclusion.
