Organizational Context
The UNDP Brazil office partners with government, private sector, and civil society to promote sustainable and inclusive development. It focuses on strengthening governance, reducing poverty and inequality, and addressing climate change and biodiversity challenges. The role supports projects under the Montreal Protocol, specifically the Brazilian HCFCs Elimination Program (PBH) and the preparation for HFCs reduction, with the UNDP acting as the lead agency through its Implementation and Monitoring Unit (UIM).
Job Purpose
The Project Assistant will provide operational support for the implementation of Montreal Protocol projects executed by UNDP in Brazil. This role focuses on administrative, financial, logistical, and project management support activities. Key responsibilities include assisting with project execution, supporting strategy implementation in coordination with the Montreal Protocol Implementation Unit (UIM) management, and liaising with institutional partners and stakeholders. The position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operational functioning of environmental projects funded by GEF, GCF, and the Multilateral Fund, contributing to Brazil's commitments under the Montreal Protocol and Kigali Amendment.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive operational support for Montreal Protocol projects, focusing on administrative, financial, and logistical tasks. Assist in the full procurement cycle, including Terms of Reference, supplier selection, and contract monitoring, ensuring compliance with UNDP rules. Support financial and budgetary management by assisting with budget execution, financial reporting, and transaction processing in corporate systems like Quantum. Facilitate event organization, including logistics and supplier contracting, and manage travel arrangements and related documentation. Aid in project planning, monitoring, and reporting, tracking activities, deadlines, and results. Maintain project documentation, both physical and digital, ensuring systematization and accessibility. Provide transversal operational support for general administration, including office supplies and communication activities. Contribute to knowledge management by supporting training organization and documenting lessons learned and best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in technical cooperation project management is required for candidates with a High School Diploma. Candidates with a University Degree need a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Experience in environmental projects, climate change, or the Montreal Protocol is desirable, as is experience with the Quantum system for administrative, financial, and procurement processes.
Skills
Proficiency in Portuguese is required; basic English is desirable. Experience with IT tools and digital platforms, Microsoft Office Suite. Skills in event logistics, contract monitoring, information systematization, reporting, and document production. Experience with the Quantum system is highly desirable. Competencies include achieving results, innovative thinking, continuous learning, adaptability, determination, partnership building, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
