Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global development network operating in 170 countries. This role is part of the Strategy, Management, and Operations department in Nepal, with the potential placement in Kathmandu or provincial offices. The position is part of a roster recruitment process.
Job Purpose
The Communications and Reporting Associate is responsible for executing daily project-related communication efforts, including branding, strategy implementation, visibility, social media management, outreach, and media coordination. This role supports the development and execution of communication and outreach strategies, ensuring alignment with UNDP standards. The associate will produce high-quality communication materials, manage content across various channels, maintain databases, track engagement, and generate reports on project milestones and results. The position also involves strengthening media engagement, managing partnerships, and ensuring knowledge management and dissemination through accessible formats.
Responsibilities
Execute daily project communication activities, including branding, communications planning, and strategy implementation. Develop and implement communication and outreach strategies aligned with UNDP standards. Produce high-quality communication materials such as press releases, newsletters, infographics, reports, case studies, photo essays, and videos. Design content and manage various communication channels including websites, social media, and blogs. Maintain an information database and digital library. Track communication outputs, media coverage, and audience engagement, generating reports on milestones and results. Strengthen media engagement by coordinating with national and international media, journalists, and partners. Manage project visibility at all levels. Document project progress, achievements, and lessons learned. Support translation, editing, and proofreading of content. Coordinate outreach and advocacy activities, ensuring Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles are integrated. Organize public events and provide communication support for donor engagement and stakeholder consultations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in communication and reporting is required with secondary education, or 4 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree. Experience with MS Office, design/multimedia tools, traditional and social media, digital marketing, and multimedia platforms is essential. Experience working with UN agencies, UNDP, donor-funded projects, or government bodies is advantageous.
