Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project BRA/21/002 aims to strengthen the institutional capacities of the Defensoria Pública da União (DPU) through innovation and aligned with Agenda 2030. This role supports the implementation of the UNDP Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions, focusing on integrating gender and race equality into DPU's policies and practices.
Job Purpose
The Technical Associate in Gender and Race Equality will support the implementation, monitoring, and management of gender equality promotion actions within project BRA/21/002. This role is crucial for advancing the Gender Equality Seal initiative at DPU, contributing to the production of technical studies and knowledge products. The position aims to enhance evidence-based management and institutional capacity in promoting gender equality, with an intersectional approach considering race and other social markers. The role requires strong skills in methodology planning, monitoring, and institutional coordination to facilitate change and integrate gender equality into broader project objectives.
Responsibilities
The Technical Associate will manage the technical aspects of the Gender Equality Seal Action Plan implementation, including its elaboration, review, and monitoring. This involves tracking benchmark progress, ensuring an intersectional approach, and developing technical instruments like work plans and reports. The role also entails promoting institutional coordination by supporting governance instances, organizing technical meetings, and facilitating articulation among DPU units, UNDP teams, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the Associate will conduct studies, diagnostics, and technical assessments on gender equality and its intersectionalities, producing knowledge products and supporting policy development. A key responsibility is strengthening knowledge management by systematizing results and best practices, and supporting the integration of gender and race equality into other project initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of professional experience (with High School Diploma) or 3 years (with University Degree) is required in project implementation, technical coordination, or monitoring of public projects, programs, or policies focused on gender equality, women's rights, or human rights.
Skills
Proficiency in Information Technology and the Office Suite. Desired skills include postgraduate studies in Gender Studies or related fields, experience in research and technical studies on gender equality and intersectionality, experience implementing institutional action plans for gender equality, diversity, or human rights, experience in Justice System or Federal Public Administration institutions, and project management experience.
