Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, through its Energy and Environment Portfolio, supports national and local authorities in restoring and transforming Ukraine’s energy and public infrastructure. The role supports the Ukrainian Public Building Energy Efficiency (UPBEE) Programme, focused on improving energy efficiency and resilience of public buildings, particularly in municipalities. This initiative also addresses war-related damage and adaptation needs.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate will provide essential project and administrative support to the UNDP Ukraine Energy and Environment Portfolio, specifically for the Ukrainian Public Building Energy Efficiency (UPBEE) Programme. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective implementation of project activities, including coordination, monitoring, reporting, and administrative tasks. The associate will contribute to the successful delivery of energy efficiency renovations and modernization of public facilities, while also supporting adaptation efforts in response to war-related impacts. By managing project logistics, finances, and communications, the role directly supports the achievement of project results and the overall mission of UNDP in Ukraine’s green and resilient recovery.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and implement designated project activities, including monitoring, data collection, and reporting on progress, issues, and risks. Organize and support project events, meetings, and communication activities, ensuring compliance with UNDP regulations. Provide comprehensive administrative and logistical support for project operations, including managing finances, processing invoices, and maintaining budget controls. Facilitate procurement processes, assist in preparing tender documentation, and support the recruitment of consultants. Maintain effective communication and cooperation with project partners and beneficiaries, managing contact databases and preparing official correspondence. Support knowledge building and sharing initiatives by organizing training, disseminating project knowledge, and identifying best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of relevant work experience is required with secondary education, or three years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience in programme/project support or related fields is essential. Experience with UN/UNDP, international organizations, or development organizations is desired.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel). Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Experience in documents and records management. Event management capabilities. Budget management support. Contract management knowledge. Ability to adapt and work under pressure. Attention to detail and results-oriented approach.
