Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global leader in fighting poverty and climate change, working in 170 countries. In Indonesia, UNDP supports the "Strengthening sustainability in commodity and food systems, land restoration and land use governance" project (FOLUR), funded by the GEF. This project aims for transformational change in sustainable commodity supply chains and land governance, focusing on oil palm, coffee, rice, and cocoa.

Job Purpose

This role serves as a Technical Officer for Multistakeholder Engagement and Collaboration within the FOLUR project in Indonesia. The primary purpose is to lead and facilitate multi-stakeholder collaboration and inclusive engagement at national and subnational levels, fostering partnerships for sustainable commodity production, land restoration, and biodiversity conservation. The position contributes to achieving genuine systems change for durable environmental benefits and improved livelihoods by coordinating project activities, managing grant agreements, and ensuring effective communication among diverse stakeholders, including government, private sector, NGOs, and local communities. The role is crucial for the successful implementation of integrated landscape management approaches and achieving the project's goals.

Responsibilities

The Technical Officer will lead multi-stakeholder collaboration and engagement for the FOLUR project at all levels, providing strategic input on engagement approaches and executing stakeholder engagement plans. This includes organizing dialogues, engaging with private sector coalitions, representing the project on platforms advocating for public-private-community partnerships, and strengthening national and international partnerships. The role involves supporting the implementation and monitoring of landscape-level project activities for coffee, rice, cocoa, and palm oil, ensuring coordination with existing platforms and partners like the Ministry of Agriculture. Additionally, the officer will manage Low-Value Grant Agreements (LVGAs), coordinating partner identification, monitoring grant progress, facilitating knowledge exchange, and ensuring compliance with UNDP safeguards. The position also requires generating knowledge products, providing technical advisory services, and participating in learning sessions.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant experience at the national or international level in sustainable agriculture, environment, or natural resource management, and climate change is required for candidates with a Master's degree. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree require a minimum of four years of such experience. Desirable experience includes work on sustainable coffee, rice, cocoa, or palm oil issues, engagement with NGOs, the private sector, and government entities, and project management in development or UN agencies.
