Communications Analyst (open To Internal & External Applicants)
Organizational Context
UNDP Yemen operates in a complex crisis environment, focusing on climate change, water, energy, and environment (CCWEE) to restore services, strengthen governance, and improve livelihoods. The Integrated Water Resources Management for Enhanced Resilience in Yemen (IWRM-ERA) Project aims to bolster climate resilience and water management. This role supports the CCWEE portfolio's communication and visibility efforts, reporting to a Project Manager and the CCWEE Team Leader.
Job Purpose
The Communications Analyst will lead the development and implementation of communications and outreach activities to enhance project visibility, stakeholder engagement, knowledge sharing, and advocacy for UNDP Yemen's Climate Change, Water, Energy, and Environment (CCWEE) portfolio. This includes managing daily communications, developing strategic plans, creating compelling content, and coordinating with project teams and partners. The role aims to highlight the portfolio's achievements, promote development and resilience work, and ensure alignment with UNDP's corporate messaging and branding, contributing to a narrative shift towards long-term solutions for environmental challenges.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee daily communications activities across all CCWEE projects, including drafting and publishing success stories, articles, and press releases. Develop and implement a comprehensive Strategic Communications Plan, targeting key audiences and producing various communications materials and donor-facing products. Coordinate with project teams and partners to generate content (text, photos, video) and ensure timely updates of fact sheets and website pages. Design and roll out advocacy and awareness campaigns linked to CCWEE priorities, utilizing social media and diverse media channels. Provide communications advice to project teams, support the Country Office's communications priorities, and ensure CCWEE activities are integrated into corporate messaging. Regularly update donors on communications activities, assist with editing and formatting official project reports, and maintain an organized archive of communications outputs.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree are not required to have professional work experience. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in mass communications, media, journalism, or electronic media. Experience in communications or advocacy for UN/UNDP, international organizations, or prominent NGOs in emergency/conflict environments is desirable.
Skills
Proven ability to produce clear, concise written and visual information products. Experience with standard office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web content management systems. Experience in managing national advocacy campaigns and coordinating multimedia production. Excellent editing, report writing, and formatting skills. Fluency in English and Arabic.
