Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator will lead the implementation of the Sustainable Energy from Biogas in Solomon Islands (SENBIOSIS) project, a nationwide initiative focused on biogas technology for waste-to-energy conversion. This role is crucial for achieving national climate and development priorities by strengthening farmers' capacity, establishing sustainable financing, and ensuring women benefit from interventions. The Coordinator will also support overall programme portfolio coordination and resource mobilization within the UNDP Solomon Islands Office, fostering partnerships with government, stakeholders, and donors. The position requires effective integration of gender equality across all project activities and stakeholder engagement processes, contributing to climate mitigation and sustainable development in the Solomon Islands.
Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and delivery of the SENBIOSIS project, ensuring timely and high-quality execution of activities according to work plans and budgets. This includes providing day-to-day managerial oversight, coordinating with technical experts, and ensuring adaptive management. The role involves leading and supervising project personnel, consultants, and partners, with a focus on performance monitoring and efficient workflows. Operational oversight includes financial management, procurement, compliance, and risk monitoring, adhering to UNDP rules and donor requirements. The Coordinator will oversee project monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance, providing strategic updates to management and donors. Key functions also include strategic coordination and partnership building with government, UN agencies, and other stakeholders, representing the programme in relevant fora, and facilitating knowledge sharing. Furthermore, the role supports portfolio analysis, resource mobilization by identifying funding opportunities, and developing proposals. Policy support involves technical input for national strategies and facilitating stakeholder consultations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience (with a Master's degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required. This experience should be in climate change-related projects, involving the coordination of complex development programs with multiple stakeholders, consultants, partners, and donors. Experience in programme/portfolio analysis and resource mobilization within sectors like agriculture, livestock, natural resources management, and renewable energy is essential.

Proven experience in coordinating and supervising multidisciplinary teams; experience with integrated development projects; strong ability to organize and facilitate workshops and high-level meetings; experience collaborating with public institutions and producing analytical reports; partnership management, including resource mobilization and relationship management; multi-stakeholder engagement; budget management; systems thinking; event planning and execution; and events management.
