Job Purpose
The On-call Security Guard is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment within UN House premises, providing surveillance and protection for staff and visitors. This role involves performing various security tasks on an as-needed basis to meet operational requirements, working in rotating shifts to maintain 24/7 coverage. The guard promotes a client-focused, quality-driven, and results-oriented approach to security operations, upholding the standards and principles of the UNDP.
Responsibilities
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for UN House personnel and assets. Key duties include managing access control for pedestrians and vehicles, screening individuals and items using technical equipment, and preventing unauthorized access. The role involves conducting regular patrols of the premises, performing physical security checks, and monitoring the condition of security equipment. Additionally, the Security Guard will operate the security control center, monitor surveillance and alarm systems, and act as a response officer during emergencies, implementing established procedures. Responsibilities also include maintaining peace and order, managing logbooks, providing security support for events, and participating in mandatory training.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant experience in the security field is required. Experience in access control, video surveillance, patrolling, and asset protection is essential. Experience with security reporting, record-keeping, and using Windows and MS Office applications is also necessary. Experience in emergency response and with international organizations is desirable.
