This Project Coordinator role is within the SDG Local Action project, supporting the Mayors Challenge initiative in Ghaziabad, India.

Job Purpose

This Project Coordinator role supports the implementation of the Mayors Challenge initiative in Ghaziabad, India, focusing on an innovative circular economy project that converts cow dung into eco-friendly paint using women-led Self-Help Groups. The initiative aims to address urban heat stress, waste management, and methane emissions while generating livelihoods for women and advancing SDG implementation. The coordinator will ensure project activities align with work plans, budgets, and UNDP procedures, providing technical and coordination support for operationalization, scaling, and stakeholder engagement. The role contributes to delivering integrated solutions that harness global expertise and partnerships to improve community lives and advance sustainable urban development.

Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Mayors Challenge initiative in Ghaziabad, ensuring adherence to work plans, timelines, and budgets. This includes developing detailed implementation plans, coordinating activities with women-led Self-Help Groups, and providing technical inputs for the project's circular economy, waste management, and women's empowerment components. The role involves managing coordination with municipal departments, partners, and service providers, facilitating meetings, and ensuring follow-up on actions. Responsibilities also include monitoring project progress, assessing output quality, collecting and analyzing data on key indicators, maintaining risk logs, and preparing reports. Additionally, the coordinator will facilitate knowledge management by documenting best practices and lessons learned for global sharing.

Work Experience

Applicants with a Master's degree require no professional experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree need a minimum of two years of relevant experience in project coordination, implementation, urban development, or public service innovation. Desired experience includes working with the UN, development organizations, circular economy initiatives, climate resilience, women's livelihoods, and the public sector.
