Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine supports regional and local authorities and civil society in emergency response and crisis management. The Area-Based Recovery (ABR) Framework focuses on community recovery and development pathways. This role supports UNDP's partnerships with community-based organizations and civil society to achieve a whole-of-society approach to reconstruction and recovery.
Job Purpose
The Grants Associate will support UNDP's partnerships with community-based organizations and civil society to achieve a whole-of-society approach to reconstruction and recovery in Ukraine. This role is crucial for the effective implementation and monitoring of grants programs, ensuring that project performance targets are met and funds are used appropriately. By facilitating liaison and cooperation between the project, donors, and key stakeholders, the Associate contributes to building and maintaining strategic contacts and organizing capacity development activities. The position also supports knowledge building and sharing, promoting gender equality, and ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment, all contributing to the efficient functioning of the office and the organization's mission.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of grants programs, including reviewing applications for completeness and compliance, tracking progress, and managing timelines. Process grant agreements, amendments, and correspondence, keeping the project team informed. Monitor grantee performance by reviewing programmatic and financial reports and conducting site visits. Facilitate liaison and cooperation with donors and key stakeholders, supporting the development of partner knowledge and strategic contacts. Organize and coordinate capacity development activities, meetings, and events. Support knowledge building and sharing by disseminating data, lessons learned, and best practices. Assist in mainstreaming gender equality and promoting a discrimination-free environment, ensuring projects benefit both women and men.
Work Experience
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with Secondary Education, or 3 years with a Bachelor's degree, in administration, finance, or programme/project support. Experience with computers and office software (MS Word, Excel) is required. Desirable experience includes engaging with local stakeholders, grant management, and previous work with UN agencies or similar organizations.
