Organizational Context
The Admin Unit, part of UNDP Operations, supports the organization's mission through operational assistance in transport, logistics, and event management. This role, under the Administrative Associate, provides essential driving services. Rostered drivers are engaged on an as-needed basis, contributing to the unit's overall effectiveness and project support.
Job Purpose
The Driver role is crucial for ensuring reliable and safe transportation services within the UNDP. This position supports the Admin Unit's operational functions by transporting personnel, delivering documents, and assisting with office-related logistics such as equipment and furniture movement. The Driver is expected to maintain the office vehicle meticulously, log all trips accurately, and adhere strictly to UNDP security and driving regulations. This role requires a client-oriented approach, a high degree of responsibility, and the ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals, contributing to the smooth functioning of daily operations and project activities.
Responsibilities
The Driver is responsible for providing secure and dependable driving services. Key duties include transporting authorized personnel, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and meeting official visitors at the airport, including assisting with visa and customs formalities. The role also involves supporting office-related transport needs, such as moving equipment and furniture. Essential responsibilities include the daily management and maintenance of the office vehicle, performing minor repairs, ensuring cleanliness, and monitoring fluid levels and tire pressure. Accurate logging of official trips, mileage, and fuel consumption is required. The Driver must follow all UNDP rules and regulations, especially in case of accidents, and maintain inventories of vehicle and security equipment, ensuring all security protocols are implemented and advance notification for trips is provided for clearance.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a professional driver is required. Experience in providing reliable and secure driving services is essential. Previous experience within the UN, an international organization, or an embassy is considered desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in local languages (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) with basic English knowledge. Ability to work under pressure, strong interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills. Adaptability, integrity, and adherence to UN values and ethical standards. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and basic vehicle repair skills are desirable.
