Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Colombia works across 32 departments and 360 municipalities, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The Country Programme Document 2025-2027 focuses on peace consolidation, social protection, environmental action, climate change, and energy transition. The role is within the "Resilience Corridors" project, aiming to strengthen climate resilience through integrated landscape management, ecosystem restoration, and fire management.

Job Purpose

This role supports the "Resilience Corridors" project by identifying, structuring, and articulating territorial financial strategies to close investment gaps in biodiversity and climate action. The Analyst will provide technical assistance in developing innovative financial instruments, blended finance schemes, and impact investment initiatives. The goal is to mobilize capital for nature-based solutions and strengthen local economies for conservation, while enhancing institutional and community capacities for managing climate and environmental resources. The position emphasizes inclusive governance, financial sustainability, and gender equity to ensure effective participation of local actors in ecological restoration and climate resilience efforts, in collaboration with the UNDP's BIOFIN initiative.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing financing mechanisms and impact investments for biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation. This involves identifying funding opportunities from diverse sources, structuring innovative financial instruments like blended finance and community funds, and conducting technical/financial analyses for investment viability. The role also entails strengthening technical and institutional capacities for managing climate and biodiversity finance, providing assistance to various stakeholders, and developing training materials. Furthermore, it involves promoting climate-resilient economic models and value chains, supporting sustainable productive initiatives, and facilitating partnerships with private sector and financial entities. Finally, the Analyst will support monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management related to project financing and impact investments, ensuring quality reporting and contributing to knowledge generation.

Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial structuring, impact investing, climate finance, or biodiversity finance is required. Experience in developing and implementing innovative financial mechanisms, particularly in developing countries or for environmental projects, is essential. Familiarity with nature-based solutions and blended finance is highly desirable.
