Organizational Context
The UNDP Mexico office, within the Effective Governance unit, supports the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID). This role contributes to the third phase (2019-2025) of the AMEXCID-UNDP Cooperation Program (PROCAP), focusing on strengthening Mexico's international development cooperation and aligning it with national development priorities and the 2030 Agenda.
Job Purpose
The Social Infrastructure Projects Associate supports the implementation of the National Development Plan and the AMEXCID-UNDP Cooperation Program, specifically contributing to Result 4 concerning human mobility projects. The role involves providing technical recommendations for planning, designing, and adapting facilities for migrants, overseeing construction and rehabilitation of shelters, analyzing basic service availability, assisting with fiscal oversight responses, and negotiating with local authorities and international partners on social infrastructure projects. This position is crucial for enhancing the institutional capacity of AMEXCID in managing and executing development cooperation initiatives.
Responsibilities
Provide technical recommendations for the planning, architectural/structural adaptation, and conceptual design of facilities for migrant populations. Support project scheduling, contractor supervision, and quality control during the construction or rehabilitation of shelters and migrant care centers. Analyze the availability and efficiency of basic services in vulnerable areas. Assist in structuring responses to observations from oversight bodies regarding infrastructure projects. Participate in negotiations with local authorities and international partners concerning social infrastructure projects. Ensure alignment with national development policies and international cooperation frameworks.
Work Experience
For candidates with a high school diploma, a minimum of 7 years of experience in public works or infrastructure projects is required. For candidates with a university degree, 4 years of experience in similar areas is required.
Skills
Experience in public works budget supervision or control. Experience in dialogue with contractors, local authorities, and/or recipient communities. Knowledge of the Law on Public Works and Related Services.
