The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Office in Angola supports the Government's National Development Plan and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Working across inclusive economic growth, governance, innovation, climate resilience, and youth empowerment, the Communications Unit enhances UNDP Angola's visibility and public outreach. This internship is within the Innovation & Effectiveness department, offering practical experience in communication and digital engagement.
Job Purpose
This internship provides graduate and undergraduate students with structured learning and practical exposure to communication, visibility, and digital engagement activities within UNDP Angola. The role aims to deepen understanding of UNDP's goals and operations by offering hands-on involvement in content development, multimedia production, social media management, and event coverage. The intern will contribute to effective communication of UNDP's work and impact, supporting the Communications Unit's strategic objectives. This is a learning opportunity designed to complement academic studies and early professional training, not a replacement for staff functions or an offer of future employment. The intern will work under the guidance of the UNV Communications & Advocacy Specialist.
Responsibilities
The intern will gain experience in drafting and editing various communication materials, including website articles, social media content, newsletters, press materials, and speeches in Portuguese and English. Responsibilities include documenting projects and events through written stories and multimedia content, and assisting in the preparation of advocacy materials highlighting UNDP's programmes, partnerships, and impact. The role involves supporting the creation of digital communication assets such as graphics, presentations, infographics, reels, and short videos, as well as gaining exposure to photography, video recording, and basic editing. The intern will also assist in organizing multimedia archives, managing digital platforms, and contributing creative ideas for digital engagement. Additionally, the intern will support event coverage, organization, and visibility, and collaborate with programme teams and external partners.
Work Experience
No professional experience is required. However, strong writing and communication skills in Portuguese and English are essential. A demonstrated interest in communications, digital media, storytelling, social media management, multimedia production, or design is expected. Basic knowledge of graphic design, photography, video editing, and digital communication tools is desirable, with familiarity with platforms like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite being an asset.
