Job Purpose
The Project Analyst role is crucial for supporting the UNDP's efforts in Kazakhstan to advance a green, low-carbon, and climate-resilient economy. This position will provide specialized knowledge and expertise in climate and disaster risk reduction (DRR) policy, integrating these into adaptation planning. The analyst will analyze existing policies, assess regulatory landscapes, and support the development of strategies and action plans. A key aspect involves facilitating capacity development and stakeholder engagement to ensure effective implementation of adaptation and DRR policies. The role contributes to strengthening monitoring systems, advocating for policy integration, and fostering knowledge sharing to accelerate local action and achieve national climate commitments and sustainable development outcomes.
Responsibilities
Provide specialized policy advice and expertise in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction (DRR), analyzing existing policies, frameworks, and regulations to identify gaps and opportunities. Support the development and integration of climate adaptation and DRR policies, strategies, and action plans, ensuring alignment with national and international commitments. Establish mechanisms for monitoring policy effectiveness and analyze financial mechanisms for adaptation and DRR projects. Engage with government officials, NGOs, and community leaders to build consensus and facilitate policy implementation. Design and conduct capacity-building activities on climate and DRR policy, and prepare technical reports and policy briefs. Facilitate knowledge sharing, document best practices, and promote advocacy for climate resilience initiatives. The role also involves performing other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the office.
Work Experience
For candidates with a Master's degree, no professional work experience is required. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in DRR, international development, or related analysis, preferably within adaptation projects. Desired experience includes working with legal frameworks, developing DRR strategies, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders in a DRR environment.
