Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Serbia is supporting the Commissioner General of Expo 2027, a major international exhibition in Belgrade. This role is part of a project to enhance the Commissioner General's capacity to promote sustainable development and showcase innovative solutions. The UN Pavilion will highlight the UN's work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and global cooperation, operating under UNDP supervision and in coordination with the UN Resident Coordinator's Office.
Job Purpose
The Technical Analyst will provide essential technical, coordination, and operational support for the United Nations Pavilion at Expo 2027. This role is crucial for ensuring the Pavilion's substantive coherence, operational efficiency, inclusivity, and visibility, aligning its activities with the SDGs and the Expo's theme. The Analyst will contribute to strategic planning, operational preparation, programme delivery, and stakeholder engagement, ultimately supporting the UN's objective of showcasing its commitment to sustainable development, multilateral cooperation, and global challenges through an engaging and educational experience for visitors.
Responsibilities
The Technical Analyst is responsible for supporting the strategic planning and operational preparation of the UN Pavilion, including developing work plans, budgets, and risk logs. They will coordinate inputs for the Pavilion's design, installation, and operation, and manage day-to-day technical engagement with service providers. The role involves coordinating programme delivery, events, and daily operations during the Expo, ensuring coherent and high-quality programming from various UN entities. This includes managing schedules, staff, visitor services, and event logistics. The Analyst will also facilitate UN system coordination, maintain stakeholder liaison with government bodies and international partners, and support communications and reporting efforts, ensuring all activities align with UN standards and promote sustainable development goals.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience is required for candidates with a Master's degree, or four years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be in areas such as programme/project coordination, event management, stakeholder engagement, partnership management, or communications. Experience with large-scale international events or UN system coordination is desirable.
Skills
Strategic thinking, systems thinking, project management, results-based management, clear communication (written and verbal), strategic partnership engagement, and knowledge facilitation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to new digital platforms are also important.
