Organizational Context

This initiative aims to improve educational infrastructure in remote areas, addressing issues like inadequate water, sanitation, hygiene, heating, and electricity. The project seeks to create equitable, inclusive, and climate-resilient learning environments, setting new standards for school infrastructure nationwide.

Job Purpose

The Driver will provide essential transportation services to support the "Modelling climate resilience and WASH in schools" project in Uzbekistan. This role is crucial for the successful execution of project activities by ensuring the safe and timely transport of personnel, documents, and materials. The Driver will contribute to the project's operational efficiency by maintaining project vehicles, adhering to safety regulations, and assisting with logistical tasks, thereby supporting the overall goal of enhancing educational environments in remote schools.

Responsibilities

The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and secure transportation services using project vehicles for authorized personnel, including international experts, and for the delivery and collection of mail and documents. This includes driving safely and responsibly within Samarkand and other pilot regions as required. The role involves assisting with official correspondence, logistics, customs clearance, and meeting personnel at the airport. Daily vehicle maintenance, including checks on oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires, is essential. The Driver must maintain logs of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption, and perform minor repairs. Additionally, the Driver must adhere to all traffic laws and UNDP regulations in case of accidents and may be assigned other administrative tasks such as assisting with pouch, procurement, and workshops.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of professional experience as a driver with a proven safe driving record is required. Experience in basic computer use and office software (MS Word, Excel) is necessary. Experience in vehicle maintenance and familiarity with electronic log systems are also required. Previous work with international organizations is desirable.

Skills

Safe driving practices, knowledge of driving rules and regulations, basic vehicle repair skills, computer literacy (MS Word, Excel), experience with electronic log/scheduling systems, client orientation, teamwork, and vehicle maintenance.
