Communications Assistant

Job Purpose
The Communications Assistant supports the implementation of UNDP Maldives' communication and advocacy strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and public awareness. This role involves increasing the standing and awareness of UNDP among partners, media, and the public. The Assistant will work collaboratively with country office and headquarters staff, promoting a client-oriented approach and providing essential operational and administrative support to the Communications Unit. The primary goal is to sensitize stakeholders to UNDP's work and mandate, contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda in the Maldives.
Responsibilities
The Communications Assistant will manage UNDP Maldives' social media presence and website, including content creation, maintenance, and analytics. They will support the development of communications and advocacy materials, such as publications, articles, press releases, and blogs in English and Dhivehi. This includes providing photography, videography, and graphic design support. The role also involves assisting with media relations, maintaining media databases, coordinating with media and partners, and monitoring media coverage. Additionally, the Assistant will provide logistical and reporting support for events and initiatives, and offer day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Communications Unit, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all tasks.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of relevant work experience is required with secondary education. Alternatively, one year of relevant work experience is required with a bachelor's degree in a relevant area. Experience in administrative roles, including procurement, logistics, and general administration, is desirable.
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Dhivehi. Content writing for various media platforms, including research and editorial experience. Proven expertise in social media and digital/online communications. Experience in website management, content creation, and online platform management. Skills in graphic design, photography, and basic video production. Event management and media relations experience. Proficiency in IT, including MS Office suite and database management. Ability to innovate, adapt, and work collaboratively.
