UNDP Türkiye's Climate Change and Environment Portfolio manages initiatives focused on sustainable growth, governance, and environmental resilience. The Shifting to Zero Waste Against Pollution (SWAP) Initiative, a key project within this portfolio, aims to reduce chemical pollution and improve resource efficiency in pilot cities globally, including Kocaeli, Türkiye. This Field Coordinator role supports the SWAP Initiative's implementation.
Job Purpose
The Field Coordinator (FC) provides essential field-level coordination and technical support for the Shifting to Zero Waste Against Pollution (SWAP) Initiative, under the guidance of the Project Manager. This role facilitates the mobilization of project inputs, fosters collaboration among project teams, consultants, and subcontractors, and supports the presentation of key deliverables and progress reports to the project board. The FC plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth project implementation by assisting with planning, tracking progress, and addressing bottlenecks. The position contributes to achieving country and portfolio-level development outcomes by aligning field activities with UN values and UNDP priorities, capturing lessons learned, and supporting review processes. All functions are advisory and support-oriented, without decision-making authority.
Responsibilities
Provide technical and coordination support for project components, including city-level pilots, private sector engagement, and knowledge-sharing activities. Offer technical inputs and administrative assistance to the Project Manager for assigned activities and planning processes, tracking progress against work plans. Support the Implementing Partner with documentation, reporting, and safeguards implementation, without decision-making authority. Deliver time-bound technical support for implementation challenges. Maintain collaborative relationships with project partners and donors through effective communication and reporting. Monitor project events and update the monitoring plan as needed. Assist with UNDP-required assessments, spot checks, and audits. Support the Project Manager in monitoring progress, identifying deviations, and making course corrections. Ensure changes are controlled and problems are addressed collaboratively. Coordinate technical inputs and daily collaboration with project support personnel. Align projects and field activities with UN values and UNDP priorities. Contribute to development outcomes and capture lessons learned. Support mid-term reviews and terminal evaluations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (with a master's degree) or 4 years (with a bachelor's degree) is required at the national or international level. This experience should include providing management advisory services and/or hands-on experience in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects. Experience in project cycle management within public, private, NGO, or international organizations is also necessary.
