Job Purpose
This role is crucial for supporting the effective implementation, coordination, and delivery of UNDP's regional gender justice portfolio, with a specific focus on the Asia-Pacific Women Judges Network (APWJN) and initiatives promoting women's leadership in the judiciary across Asia and the Pacific. The Gender Justice Project Analyst will contribute to strengthening gender-responsive justice systems by managing project activities, developing work plans, coordinating regional and national events, and monitoring progress. The position aims to advance gender equality within justice systems, enhance institutional legitimacy, improve decision-making, and ensure better protection of rights and access to justice for all, aligning with SDG 16 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Responsibilities
The Gender Justice Project Analyst will lead the day-to-day implementation and coordination of regional gender justice initiatives, focusing on the APWJN and women's judicial leadership. This includes managing project activities, developing work plans, budgets, and risk management measures. The role involves coordinating regional and national activities such as colloquiums, consultations, peer-learning exchanges, and leadership development programs. Responsibilities also include monitoring progress, identifying challenges, and proposing solutions to ensure timely achievement of project milestones. Furthermore, the analyst will support the generation and dissemination of knowledge, including research, policy analysis, and practical tools on gender justice. This involves collecting and analyzing data, contributing to policy development, and identifying emerging trends. The role also encompasses results-based management, preparing reports for donors and management, maintaining knowledge management systems, and supporting communication and visibility activities. Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with judicial institutions, UN entities, and other stakeholders is key, as is supporting resource mobilization efforts and senior management engagement with partners.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in programme support and coordination, preferably in access to justice, rule of law, or human rights, is required for candidates with a Master's degree. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree require a minimum of four years of relevant experience. Experience in designing, planning, and managing multi-country or regional initiatives, including knowledge exchange activities and workshops, is essential. Experience in facilitating judicial knowledge exchanges, planning high-profile events, and working on rule of law, justice, or gender equality programming is also required. Experience in mainstreaming gender equality, working in the Asia/Pacific region, and prior UN or international experience are highly desirable.
