Job Purpose
The General Services Clerk, under the direct supervision of the Administrative Analyst, is responsible for supporting the delivery of efficient and compliant administrative services within the UNDP Country Office in Amman, Jordan. This role ensures the smooth implementation of administrative processes by providing support across key areas including common premises management, registry services, government liaison, and fleet coordination. The incumbent's work is vital for the effective functioning of the Operations Unit and contributes directly to the successful implementation of UNDP programmes and projects by maintaining essential operational support and facilitating administrative transactions.
Responsibilities
The General Services Clerk is responsible for supporting the management of common premises and facilities, including coordinating maintenance, repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. They will provide registry and mail management services, ensuring timely distribution of correspondence and proper filing of documents. The role involves supporting government liaison and administrative transactions, such as facilitating residency permits and visas for international personnel and coordinating customs clearance. Additionally, the incumbent will support fleet and transportation coordination, including scheduling drivers and maintaining vehicle records. Finally, they will assist in administrative coordination, service delivery, and knowledge sharing within the General Services Unit, performing other assigned operational tasks.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in programme support and operational-related tasks is required with a secondary education. This requirement is reduced to 1 year of experience with a bachelor's degree. Experience within UN agencies, supporting fleet management, and in general administration and logistics is desirable.
