This role supports the Country Office Resident Representative.
Job Purpose
The Communications Associate supports the formulation and implementation of communication and advocacy strategies aligned with UNDP Djibouti's program priorities. This role aims to position the Country Office as a leader in development markets, boost service line demand, and increase business opportunities. The Associate will enhance UNDP's standing and awareness among partners, media, and the public by promoting a client and community-oriented approach. Collaboration with internal teams, UN agencies, government officials, media, donors, and civil society is key to achieving these objectives. The role may involve supervising support staff within the Communications Unit.
Responsibilities
The Communications Associate will support the implementation of internal and external communication and outreach strategies, including needs assessments and action plan execution. This involves gathering and archiving information from various programs and projects, and maintaining an information database and photo library. The role includes supporting the publication strategy by identifying content leads, coordinating translations, editing, proofreading, and overseeing dissemination. The Associate will ensure corporate guidelines are applied to digital content for the website and social media, and assist in updating the CO website. Additionally, the role supports communication campaigns and advocacy initiatives by developing marketing materials, organizing events, and reporting on progress. Knowledge management and dissemination of knowledge products are also key responsibilities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or public relations is required with secondary education. This requirement is reduced to 4 years if the candidate holds a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience in social media management, digital marketing, advertising, graphic design, and videography is desired. Event management experience is also beneficial. Fluency in French and English is required.
