Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) supports 46 Country Offices in Sub-Saharan Africa to advance sustainable development. The Strategy, Analysis and Research Team (SART) within RBA focuses on providing strategic analysis and policy advice. The Africa Credit Ratings Initiative (ACRI) within SART aims to strengthen sovereign creditworthiness and development finance access for African governments.

Job Purpose

This internship supports the Africa Credit Ratings Initiative (ACRI) within the UNDP's Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA). The intern will contribute to enhancing ACRI's visibility, supporting its Community of Practice, and strengthening relationships with governments, development partners, and other stakeholders. The role involves assisting with stakeholder engagement, communications, knowledge management, and partnership development. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in strategic communications, partnerships, and programme support within the UN system, contributing to high-level policy dialogue and development finance initiatives across Africa.

Responsibilities

The intern will manage communications and knowledge management by drafting social media content, newsletters, and web stories; preparing presentations and briefing notes; maintaining the Africa Credit Ratings Resource Platform; and assisting with editing reports and knowledge products. Responsibilities also include tracking media coverage and monitoring communications performance. In partnerships and stakeholder engagement, the intern will maintain databases and contact lists, support coordination with various entities, prepare briefing materials for meetings, and follow up on partner actions. Additionally, the intern will support event organization, including webinars and workshops, manage registrations, and facilitate engagement within the Community of Practice. Programme support involves assisting with activity monitoring, preparing donor updates, and other related tasks.

Work Experience

Desirable experience includes work in communications, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, or knowledge management. Proficiency in drafting and editing, experience organizing events or supporting stakeholder activities, and familiarity with Microsoft Office and online collaboration platforms are beneficial. Experience with graphic design tools or website content management, and prior work in an international organization or development context are considered advantageous.
