The TLIF aims to protect, restore, and sustainably manage tiger landscapes through a Technical Assistance Facility (TA facility) and a guarantee facility. This role supports the TA facility's implementation in Nepal.
Job Purpose
The National Project Specialist (NPS) will lead the coordination and management of the Technical Assistance Facility (TA facility) in Nepal, a component of the Tiger Landscapes Investment Facility (TLIF). The role involves identifying and engaging partners for pipeline development and collaborating with Financial Service Providers (FSPs) to finance nature-positive projects. The NPS will contribute to impact monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, and engage with the government to scale the facility's impact. This position is crucial for ensuring project results are delivered effectively, on time, and within budget, aligning with UNDP standards and project objectives.
Responsibilities
The National Project Specialist (NPS) is responsible for leading the coordination and day-to-day management of the TA facility in Nepal. This includes developing annual work plans and budgets, monitoring progress, and proposing corrective actions. The NPS will oversee procurement, contracting, and recruitment of service providers, ensuring the effective use of project resources. Key duties involve leading project activities, coordinating partners, and ensuring timely delivery of outputs. The role also entails managing project risks, ensuring compliance with UNDP policies, and preparing progress reports. Furthermore, the NPS will lead the establishment of a pipeline development program, provide technical assistance to FSPs, strengthen partner capacity, and facilitate exchanges to enhance enterprise competitiveness. Building strategic partnerships, engaging stakeholders, and promoting knowledge sharing are also critical functions, alongside mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles throughout project implementation.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (with a Master's) or 7 years (with a Bachelor's) in project implementation and management, focusing on planning, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder coordination. Desired experience includes business development, pipeline development, impact investment, biodiversity conservation, and familiarity with UN/UNDP procedures.
