The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) China Country Office is part of a global network dedicated to ending poverty, reducing inequalities, and protecting the planet in alignment with the 2030 Agenda and SDGs. UNDP China partners with the government and various stakeholders to integrate SDGs, promote sustainable development, and facilitate international cooperation. The Communications, Innovation and Partnerships Team (CIP) enhances UNDP's visibility through strategic communications, media engagement, and innovative solutions.

Job Purpose

This internship offers a valuable opportunity to work within the Communications, Innovation and Partnerships Team (CIP) at the UNDP China Country Office. The intern will support the design and implementation of the office's innovation and communications strategy, contributing to the promotion of UNDP's work and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The role involves assisting in content creation, social media management, project support, and administrative tasks, providing hands-on experience in development communications and project implementation within an international organization. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in advancing global development agendas.

Responsibilities

The intern will provide comprehensive support to the Communications, Innovation and Partnerships Team. Key responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of the country office's communications strategy and action plan, particularly for SDG-related initiatives and innovation projects. This involves creating digital content for social media campaigns, drafting various communication materials (concept notes, briefs, press releases, infographics, video scripts), and managing UNDP China's social media platforms and website. The role also entails supporting project implementation by monitoring progress, maintaining stakeholder communication, assisting with administrative and logistical tasks, and supporting financial and operational activities. Additionally, the intern will contribute to new project development through research and knowledge-sharing efforts.

Work Experience

Experience in drafting audience-targeted content is required. Prior experience with project implementation and operational support is advantageous. Experience working with international organizations, public sector institutions, or non-profits is preferred. Knowledge or experience in organizing events, workshops, or conferences is also desirable.

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and its online collaboration functions. Experience managing social media platforms (including WeChat, video publishing, and data analysis). Familiarity with design and video production software (e.g., CapCut, Canva, Photoshop) and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) is an asset. Excellent oral and written communication skills in Mandarin and English are required.
