Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Panama supports sustainable human development across national, municipal, and comarca levels. The UNDP Panama office is structured into three programmatic groups covering social inclusion, governance, and climate change.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate will support the strengthening of the INADEH Project Office's management. This role is crucial for the adequate planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of institutional projects, ensuring deliverables meet established timelines, approved budgets, and quality standards. The position contributes to the INADEH's positioning as a leader in professional training, institutional strengthening, and the enhancement of educational offerings and operational management, ultimately supporting economic competitiveness and livelihoods in Panama.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting project planning and formulation by defining scope, objectives, and deliverables, and collaborating on project requirements. The role involves monitoring and controlling project implementation to ensure timely completion within budget, managing changes to scope, schedule, and costs, and coordinating project activities. Additionally, the Project Associate will manage project information, documentation, and reporting, including generating progress and final reports, and documenting lessons learned. Support will also be provided for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and disseminating project outputs and tools.
Work Experience
Experience in managing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint), Zoom, and training platforms is required. Desired experience includes administrative and financial management of infrastructure projects, prior experience as a Project Associate or Coordinator, technical/executive report writing, client/contractor negotiation, and experience with Microsoft Project or similar software, as well as with multilateral organizations.
