Organizational Context
The UN Global Solutions Hub on Internal Displacement is an inter-agency resource supporting field implementation of solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs). It serves as a central point for UN Resident Coordinators and Country Teams, facilitating access to expertise and advancing the UN Secretary General’s Action Agenda on Internal Displacement.
Job Purpose
This internship supports the day-to-day operations of the UN Global Solutions Hub on Internal Displacement, focusing on coordination, knowledge management, communications, and research. The intern will assist the Hub Coordinator and inter-agency team members in advancing solutions for internal displacement. This role contributes to promoting a nationally led, development approach to IDP solutions, providing country-facing support, managing knowledge, tracking progress, and supporting key coordination mechanisms, aligning with the UN's commitments and guidance on this critical issue.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide support across three key areas under the supervision of the Solutions Hub Coordinator. Programme Management & Operations Support includes assisting with event organization (meetings, webinars), providing administrative support to the Coordinator, aiding with basic financial and procurement tasks, and preparing documentation for working groups. Knowledge Management & Communications involves documenting lessons learned and success stories, updating website and SharePoint content, formatting publications, and drafting meeting notes. Research & Country-Facing Support includes conducting desk research on internal displacement, organizing data for reporting, tracking country engagements, and managing deployment files.
Work Experience
While no specific prior work experience is mandated, candidates should possess excellent communication and writing skills, initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work harmoniously with diverse staff. Familiarity with information and communication technology is expected. Some knowledge of internal displacement issues is beneficial.
