Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) seeks an intern for the Internal Displacement Solutions Fund (IDSF) Secretariat. IDSF is a UN financing mechanism supporting nationally led, development-oriented solutions for internal displacement. The intern will support the Secretariat's day-to-day work, focusing on development finance, quantitative analysis, data management, and economic research.

Job Purpose

This internship aims to provide support to the Internal Displacement Solutions Fund (IDSF) Secretariat, a UN financing mechanism dedicated to catalyzing nationally led, development-oriented solutions for internal displacement. The intern will contribute to advancing durable solutions by assisting with development finance analysis, resource mobilization, data management, and economic research. This role involves supporting governments and UN Country Teams in moving beyond short-term responses to implement strategies that improve access to housing, livelihoods, services, documentation, and social protection for internally displaced persons and affected communities. The intern will play a key role in data collection, analysis, and reporting, contributing to the Fund's objective of strengthening national leadership and connecting initial investments to larger-scale financing.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the IDSF Secretariat in several key areas. This includes analyzing financing opportunities for durable solutions, researching development finance trends, and maintaining trackers for donor engagement and financing instruments. The role involves preparing briefing notes and analytical inputs to communicate the IDSF investment case. Additionally, the intern will collect, clean, and organize quantitative and qualitative data related to the IDSF portfolio and country contexts. They will assist in developing data visualizations and dashboards for management and reporting, and analyze country-level data to identify trends and financing gaps. The intern will also conduct background research on priority countries, assist with requests from UN Country Teams, and support meeting preparation and coordination efforts.

Work Experience

A demonstrated academic background or strong interest in economics, finance, development finance, public policy, statistics, or data analytics is required. Experience with Excel and structured datasets is essential. Experience in desk research, financial or economic analysis, data cleaning, or data visualization is desirable. Familiarity with public finance, development finance institutions, or results frameworks is an asset.
