Job Purpose
The Driver will provide essential transportation services for the UNDP project in Uzbekistan, ensuring the safe and reliable movement of authorized personnel, including international experts, and the timely delivery of documents and items within Samarkand and other designated regions. This role is crucial for the efficient execution of project activities, contributing directly to the project's objectives of empowering local communities and promoting sustainable development. The Driver will also be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the project vehicle, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to safety regulations, thereby facilitating smooth project operations and supporting the overall mission of the UNDP.
Responsibilities
Provide secure and reliable driving services for project personnel and deliveries. Ensure safe operation of project vehicles within Samarkand and other regions. Assist with logistics, including customs clearance, airport meet-and-greets, and warehouse visits. Maintain the assigned vehicle through regular checks, minor repairs, and cleanliness. Log all trips, mileage, and fuel consumption, reporting monthly. Proactively report on vehicle condition and planned maintenance expenses. Adhere strictly to traffic laws and UNDP regulations in case of accidents or violations. Perform additional administrative tasks as needed, such as assisting with pouch, procurement, and workshops.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional driving experience with a proven safe driving record is required. Experience with basic computer use and office software (MS Word, Excel) is necessary. Experience in vehicle maintenance and client orientation is desirable.
Skills
Safe driving practices and knowledge of traffic regulations. Basic vehicle maintenance and repair skills. Computer literacy with MS Office proficiency. Ability to use electronic log and scheduling systems. Strong communication and client management abilities. Knowledge of UN ethics and vehicle management policies. Fluency in Uzbek and Russian.
