Organizational Context
UNDP Jordan's Climate and Energy Pillar focuses on national priorities for climate action, environmental sustainability, and resilient development. It manages a diverse portfolio of projects, including the Building Resilience to Cope with Climate Change in Jordan (BRCCJ) project, which aims to enhance climate resilience through improved water management and sustainable agriculture in the Dead Sea Basin.
Job Purpose
The Project Officer will support the effective implementation and day-to-day coordination of the BRCCJ project in Jordan. Reporting to the Programme Analyst, this role is crucial for the timely delivery of project outputs by coordinating activities with the Project Management Unit, implementing partners, consultants, and stakeholders. The position ensures compliance with workplans, donor requirements, and UNDP regulations, contributing to the achievement of the project's intended outcomes in improving water use efficiency in the agriculture sector and enhancing climate resilience.
Responsibilities
The Project Officer is responsible for coordinating and supporting the day-to-day implementation of project activities, ensuring alignment with workplans, budgets, and schedules. This includes close collaboration with the Project Management Unit, FAO, and relevant ministries to ensure timely execution. The role involves monitoring progress against outputs, identifying implementation issues, and proposing solutions. Responsibilities extend to supporting project reporting, monitoring, and evaluation, including risk management and the preparation of progress reports. The officer will facilitate partnerships and coordination with internal and external stakeholders, manage project documentation, and contribute to knowledge management and learning by documenting experiences and preparing knowledge products. Additionally, the role involves providing technical guidance to consultants and contractors and ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required for candidates with a Master's degree, or four years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be in areas such as climate change, environment, disaster management, or project/programme management. Experience in policy analysis, project implementation, and working with government or UN agencies is desirable.

Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
