The United Nations Common Services in Mali, managed by UNDP, aim to enhance operational coherence and resource optimization within the UN system. This role supports the operational management of these common services, ensuring integrated, client-oriented services for all UN agencies, funds, and programs in Mali. The Electrical Technical Assistant directly supports the Facilities Management Analyst.
Job Purpose
The Electrical Technical Assistant provides daily operational support and surveillance of the technical infrastructure at the UN House in Bamako, Mali. This role is critical for ensuring the continuity of operations amidst Mali's energy challenges. The incumbent is responsible for first-level maintenance, meter readings, fuel stock monitoring, and assisting external service providers. The position contributes to the efficient and reliable functioning of the UN House's energy systems and overall infrastructure, supporting the collective performance of the UN system in Mali.
Responsibilities
The Electrical Technical Assistant is responsible for the physical and technical monitoring of the energy system, including daily inspections of generators, solar hybrid systems, and UPS. This includes taking daily electricity meter and fuel level readings, recording data, and reporting any anomalies. The role involves assisting with fuel deliveries, verifying quantities, and ensuring safety standards. Additionally, the Assistant performs first-level preventive maintenance and minor repairs, prepares work areas for specialized technicians, and accompanies external service providers. Support is also provided for office moves, conference room technical setups, and participation in physical inventory checks. Ensuring safety and health in technical areas and compliance with safety regulations are key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in electrical work, including design, monitoring, and control of electrical projects, is required with a secondary education. With a Bachelor's degree, 1 year of relevant experience is sufficient.
