Organizational Context

The United Nations Common Services in Mali operate under UN development system reforms, aiming to enhance operational coherence and optimize resource utilization. The UNDP manages these services, ensuring integrated, standardized, and client-oriented support for all UN agencies, contributing to collective performance. The Assistant Technical role supports the Facility Management Analyst.

Job Purpose

The Assistant Technical in Civil Engineering is responsible for executing maintenance, repair, and renovation work on the physical structure, dependencies, and networks (excluding complex electrical/HVAC systems) of the UN House. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, hygienic, and professional working environment for hundreds of UN employees across various agencies, adhering to UNDP Facility Management standards. The position ensures the integrity and functionality of the building's infrastructure, directly contributing to the operational efficiency and well-being of the UN presence in Mali.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive and curative maintenance on buildings, including masonry, painting, and carpentry. Conduct regular inspections to identify and repair structural degradations such as cracks and leaks. Maintain and repair plumbing systems, water supply, and sanitation networks, including diagnosing and fixing leaks promptly. Support space modifications and logistical tasks, such as assembling modular partitions and moving furniture. Respond to facility-related requests from UN personnel. Assist in the maintenance of outdoor spaces. Provide technical supervision for external contractors during renovation projects and verify material specifications. Ensure all interventions comply with safety and hygiene standards, utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Work Experience

A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience is required with a secondary education. Alternatively, 1 year of relevant experience is required with a Bachelor's degree, specifically in infrastructure work monitoring and control.
