Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bhutan's Environment and Livelihood Unit is implementing two key initiatives: Enhancing Climate Resilience of Urban Landscapes and Communities (ECRUL) and the Disaster Resilient Infrastructure Project (DRIP). These projects require significant technical, analytical, coordination, and administrative support. Two interns will be recruited to support the Project Management Unit (PMU), working closely with UNDP, government counterparts, and development partners.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide crucial technical, analytical, coordination, and administrative support for the ECRUL and DRIP projects within UNDP Bhutan's Environment and Livelihood Unit. Interns will assist the Project Management Unit (PMU) in implementing these flagship initiatives, working collaboratively with UNDP, government officials, consultants, municipalities, and development partners. The role is designed to strengthen project delivery by supporting research, documentation, logistics for workshops, data collection and analysis, and general administrative tasks, contributing to the overall success of climate resilience and disaster risk reduction efforts in Bhutan.
Responsibilities
Interns will provide comprehensive support to the ECRUL and DRIP projects under the supervision of the Project Manager and PMU supervisor. Key duties include conducting desk research on climate-resilient urban development and sustainable infrastructure, and assisting in compiling, organizing, and maintaining project documents and records. They will also support the review and formatting of technical documents. Logistical support for workshops and meetings, including preparing minutes and coordinating with stakeholders, is essential. Furthermore, interns will assist in gathering, entering, compiling, and performing preliminary analysis of project data, and maintaining information systems. Ad-hoc administrative tasks, correspondence, filing, and facilitating coordination between the PMU, UNDP Country Office, and external partners are also expected.
