This role supports the ABR project's visibility and stakeholder engagement.
Job Purpose
The Communications Associate will enhance the visibility, credibility, and stakeholder engagement of the Area-Based Recovery (ABR) project in Ukraine. This involves developing and implementing communication and media plans at the regional level, designing targeted campaigns, and collaborating to integrate outreach and advocacy components into project concept notes. The role is crucial for ensuring clear, timely, and gender-responsive messaging across various platforms and events, thereby supporting the project's objectives in community recovery and the return to a development pathway in war-affected areas. The associate will contribute to a holistic, systems-based response that empowers all societal actors.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement regional communication and media plans, including targeted campaigns and outreach strategies. Create high-quality content such as press releases, media advisories, and feature stories in English and Ukrainian for UNDP's website and social media. Update social media platforms to highlight project achievements and develop talking points and briefing notes for senior management. Edit and format project reports and promotional materials according to UNDP standards, and regularly update informational materials like newsletters and fact sheets. Coordinate with agencies for audio-visual and print product creation, and maintain a library of project-related materials. Support media relations by organizing press conferences and events, ensuring proper branding, and preparing background documents for donor missions. Monitor media coverage, document best practices, and ensure gender equality principles are mainstreamed in communications and team culture.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Public Relations, Media, Communications, or Journalism is required with Secondary Education. This requirement is reduced to 4 years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience with office software packages is necessary. Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia editing tools, experience in developing communication strategies, and prior work with international organizations are considered assets.
