Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, supporting governments in poverty eradication and inequality reduction. The Multi-Country Office (MCO) for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean serves ten territories, focusing on development solutions. This role sits within the Nature, Climate, and Energy Cluster, coordinating global GEF-funded projects related to biodiversity frameworks and finance.

Job Purpose

The Multi-Country Project Coordinator will manage and oversee the implementation of three key GEF-funded projects focused on biodiversity conservation and finance across seven Eastern Caribbean states. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of project activities, outputs, and resources, aligning with UNDP's mandate to support national development solutions. The coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day project management, risk assessment, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that projects meet their objectives within schedule and budget. The position contributes to achieving global biodiversity targets and sustainable development goals within the region.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage the overall implementation of biodiversity-related projects, ensuring adherence to UNDP project management best practices and procedures. This includes delivering project outputs on schedule and within budget, tracking timelines and expenditures, and managing project risks through a dedicated risk log. The role involves overseeing project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation. Responsibilities also extend to managing the procurement of goods and services, recruitment of personnel, and delegation of work packages to responsible parties. Furthermore, the coordinator will lead stakeholder engagement, communications, and visibility strategies, liaise with MCO operations and supporting functions, and supervise the Project Management Unit. Building and maintaining strong partnerships with governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders, providing technical support, and facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building activities are also key duties.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required with a Master's degree, or four years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree. Experience in project management, coordinating scope, timelines, and product/service delivery is essential. Experience with industry-standard software, project management tools, and public procurement methods is also necessary.
