Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mexico, through the AMEXCID-PNUD Cooperation Program (PROCAP), supports Mexico's international cooperation for development (CID) efforts. This role contributes to aligning CID with national development priorities and strengthening the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) in its dual role as a provider and recipient of cooperation.
Job Purpose
This role serves as a Legal Assistant for Cooperation Projects, supporting the AMEXCID's operational structure. The primary purpose is to provide legal and administrative assistance in managing international cooperation projects. This includes handling legal responses to project-related disputes, reviewing regulatory compliance for internal audits, and ensuring project documents adhere to Mexican regulations. The role also involves organizing and tracking project-related documentation and supporting responses to transparency requests, thereby contributing to the effective and compliant execution of international cooperation initiatives aligned with national development goals.
Responsibilities
The Legal Assistant will provide crucial support in managing international cooperation projects. Key duties include preparing legal and administrative responses to disputes arising from project execution. The role involves participating in the review of internal audits to ensure regulatory compliance. A significant responsibility is verifying that project-related documents align with Mexican legal frameworks. Additionally, the assistant will help organize, review, and track project files, official documents, and correspondence. The position also supports the preparation of responses to transparency requests received by the agency, ensuring efficient information management and adherence to legal standards.
Work Experience
Candidates with a high school diploma require 4 years of legal assistance experience in public administration. Those with a completed Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field need 1 year of relevant experience in the aforementioned areas. Experience in Mexican public administration (federal, state, or municipal) and legal document preparation is required.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in Mexican public administration. Experience in drafting legal documents. Desired skills include experience in legal support within the public sector or law firms, handling institutional requirements, information requests, administrative procedures, and basic knowledge of transparency and anti-corruption principles.
