Security Guard
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) aims to improve the economic and social conditions of Palestinians. The Palestinian Programmatic Framework (PPF) 2023-2027 focuses on transformative resilience. This Security Guard role supports the UNDP/PAPP Security Unit in East Jerusalem, Palestine, ensuring safety and security standards.
Job Purpose
The Security Guard is responsible for providing reliable and safe security services to the UNDP/PAPP Security Unit in East Jerusalem. This role ensures the highest standards of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, coupled with excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The incumbent will maintain a client-oriented approach, demonstrating courtesy, tact, and the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals. The primary objective is to safeguard UNDP personnel, assets, and operations through vigilant security measures, emergency preparedness, and assistance to staff and visitors, contributing to the overall efficient functioning of the office and the organization.
Responsibilities
Ensure all UNDP/PAPP security arrangements are in place, including registering mail, searching visitors, and denying access to unauthorized individuals. Conduct regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the building, maintaining logs of activities and vehicle movements. Maintain security equipment to ensure good working condition. Be prepared for emergencies by ensuring VHF radio functionality, conducting daily checks, and maintaining contact with the Security Analyst. Implement vehicle searches and VBIED inspections. Provide assistance to staff and visitors by greeting them, answering questions, directing them, and enforcing access procedures. Operate the centralized telephone system and maintain official lists, assisting staff with calls. Assist the Security Analyst with security requirements and administrative tasks as needed, and be prepared to work shifts.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in security-related positions is required. Proven work experience as a Security Guard with an international organization or Embassy, and experience with technical protection equipment, radio, and telecommunication equipment are desirable.
Skills
Ability to manage security systems (CCTV, access control, fire-alarm). Knowledge of Windows and MS Office applications. Effective decision-making. Safety management knowledge (Air, Road, Fire). Security incident management and monitoring. Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge of English. Working knowledge of Hebrew is an asset.
