Organizational Context

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) in Honduras provides security support and advisory services to all UN agencies. The department focuses on security analysis to inform security plans and procedures, ensuring the safety of UN personnel and operations in the region through collaboration with state institutions and civil society.

Job Purpose

This role provides essential operational support to the UNDSS Honduras team, ensuring the effective implementation of UN security communication standards and protocols. The position is crucial for maintaining secure operations by monitoring missions, managing communication systems, and disseminating timely security information. It contributes to the overall safety and efficiency of UN personnel and missions in Honduras by supporting security analysis, operational procedures, and the issuance of identification credentials.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include monitoring and verifying missions, providing general operational support to the UNDSS team, and adhering to UN communication security standards. The role involves maintaining updated communication logs and records, regularly checking the functionality of emergency communication systems, and tracking UN personnel missions. It also includes disseminating security communications, gathering information for daily security reports, and managing security databases and identification systems. Additional duties involve supporting UNDSS training programs, maintaining inventory of the Security Operations Center, and performing other assigned technical and operational tasks.

Work Experience

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in security services and operational support is required.
