Job Purpose
The National Project Coordinator will ensure effective project management for assigned projects, delivering technical, operational, financial, and administrative outputs while tracking progress through monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. The role involves providing advisory support on climate resilience and river basin management to the Government and partners, building strategic partnerships, and aligning projects with UN values and UNDP priorities. A key aspect is mainstreaming gender, disability, and youth considerations, promoting an inclusive and safe environment, and ensuring compliance with UNDP corporate standards. This position contributes to the UNDP's Country Programme Document (CPD) 2025–2029 and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2025–2029 by supporting national development priorities in Bahrain.
Responsibilities
The National Project Coordinator is responsible for comprehensive project management, including developing detailed work plans, coordinating activities, and ensuring timely submission of progress reports, financial reports, and implementation reports to donors and beneficiaries. This includes monitoring project progress against timelines, securing necessary goods, services, and personnel, and drafting Terms of Reference (TORs). The role involves rigorous financial monitoring, risk management through a Project Risk Log, and ensuring quality assurance for financial, procurement, and administrative processes in line with UNDP rules. The coordinator will maintain coordination with experts and partners for coherence, identify cooperation opportunities, and manage project tracking in QUANTUM. Additionally, the role provides advisory support on climate resilience and river basin management, develops policies in collaboration with partners, and builds strategic partnerships with authorities, academia, and NGOs. The position also ensures the mainstreaming of gender, disability, and youth considerations in all project activities and promotes inclusive communication.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field are not required to have professional work experience. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience at the national or international level in designing, implementing, monitoring, and/or evaluating development projects. Experience in handling multi-sectoral coordination, policy advisory, and gender mainstreaming is desired.
