Job Purpose
The Small Grants Programme Assistant will provide crucial day-to-day support to the GEF SGP in Cabo Verde, ensuring effective programme and project implementation. This role involves assisting the National Coordinator in screening project proposals, advising potential grantees, and providing guidance to ongoing projects. The position is key to maintaining the programme's operational efficiency, supporting financial management, administrative tasks, and contributing to knowledge management and communication efforts. The assistant will help ensure projects align with expected results, work plans, and reporting requirements, ultimately contributing to the achievement of environmental and development outcomes in line with UNDP's mission and the SDGs.
Responsibilities
Support day-to-day programme and project implementation, ensuring alignment with objectives and work plans. Assist the National Coordinator (NC) in prescreening project concepts and proposals, and evaluating financial aspects. Provide guidance to potential grantees on application processes and support ongoing projects. Manage project documentation, including MOAs, reports, and meeting minutes, and maintain project and stakeholder databases. Support financial management by reviewing financial reports, processing payments, managing petty cash, and tracking budgets. Provide administrative support for office operations, procurement, and event organization. Assist in knowledge management, communication efforts, and maintaining programme visibility. Support monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and reporting, and assist with project audits.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of administrative or programme experience with secondary education, or two years with a bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience in reviewing and editing documents and producing meeting reports with identified actions is required.
