SART Intern
Organizational Context
The Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) of UNDP implements the organization’s Strategic Plan to eliminate poverty and reduce inequalities in Sub-Saharan Africa. It provides oversight and support to 46 country offices. The Strategy, Analysis and Research Team (SART) within RBA offers strategic analysis and policy advice, focusing on data analysis, strategic policies, and knowledge production.
Job Purpose
This internship within the Strategy, Analysis and Research Team (SART) of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) aims to support the team's mandate of providing strategic analysis and policy advice. The intern will contribute to understanding development trends in Africa by compiling and analyzing statistical data from various sources. Key contributions include supporting the writing of reports, policy briefs, and briefing notes, as well as assisting in the organization of events. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in development research, policy support, and event management within a leading international organization, directly contributing to the RBA's efforts to advance sustainable human development across the continent.
Responsibilities
The intern will be responsible for analyzing statistical data from diverse sources to identify and report on development trends within Africa. A significant duty involves supporting the preparation and writing of various documents, including comprehensive reports, concise policy briefs, and informative briefing notes. Additionally, the intern will assist in the organization of team events, providing crucial logistical support and contributing to outreach and communication efforts. General administrative tasks within the unit will also be undertaken, ensuring smooth operational functioning. This multifaceted role supports the SART team's analytical and operational activities.
Work Experience
Previous work experience in data analysis and policy-related writing is required. While not mandatory, demonstrated experience in economic analysis is considered an asset for this role. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and is suitable for individuals seeking to build their professional background in these areas.
