Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Paraguay is a key partner in the country's development, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Development Plan 2030. The UNDP implements a new Country Programme for 2025-2029, focusing on social protection, socioeconomic development, environmental sustainability, and institutional strengthening. This role operates within the Strategy, Management, and Operations department, supporting the Country Office's operational needs.

Job Purpose

The Driver (Conductora/Conductor) provides reliable and safe transportation services for the UNDP Country Office in Paraguay. This role ensures the timely and secure movement of program and operations staff, consultants, experts, and visitors, including airport transfers. The Driver is responsible for the daily maintenance and cost-effective use of the assigned official vehicle, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all necessary vehicle documents and supplies are up-to-date. The position contributes to the smooth functioning of the office by providing essential logistical support and adhering to all traffic laws and organizational policies, ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include providing safe and reliable transportation for authorized personnel, experts, consultants, and visitors using the official vehicle. This involves transporting staff, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and assisting with airport transfers. The role also entails ensuring cost savings through proper vehicle use and daily maintenance, keeping accurate daily records, and contributing to maintenance plans. The Driver must maintain all vehicle documents, supplies, and safety equipment, and take immediate action in case of accidents. Additional duties may include assisting with administrative tasks, such as contacting vendors and supporting physical inventory checks, all under the supervision of the Administration and ICT Associate.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. Experience in basic vehicle repairs and maintenance is also needed. Prior experience in logistics or administrative functions is beneficial. Experience as a professional driver transporting passengers, or working for international organizations, diplomatic missions, NGOs, or the public/private sector, is considered an advantage.

Skills

Safe driving practices, vehicle maintenance and minor repairs, knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel), record-keeping, communication, customer service orientation, and adherence to UN ethics and policies.
