Job Purpose
This internship supports the Natural Resources Management, Climate Change, and Disaster Risk Reduction (NRM, CC & DRR) Unit in UNDP Lao PDR. The role is crucial for implementing the UNDP Lao PDR Country Programme Document (CPD) 2026–2030, focusing on enhancing resilience to climate change and disasters, promoting sustainable resource management, and advancing inclusive development. The intern will contribute to programming, project oversight, and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities, supporting the Programme Support Analyst. This position aims to enhance project results and quality through technical contributions in environmental areas, ensuring alignment with UNDP's strategic goals and digital standards.
Responsibilities
The intern will support effective programme management within assigned thematic areas, focusing on quality assurance and risk management from formulation to implementation. This includes assisting in project design, formulation, and oversight, ensuring alignment with UNDP priorities and digital technology considerations. The role involves supporting planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring of programme areas, tracking financial resources, and applying results-based management tools. Additionally, the intern will contribute to strategic partnerships by supporting engagement with UN agencies, IFIs, government institutions, donors, and civil society. This includes research, brief preparation, and contributing to resource mobilization efforts. The intern will also facilitate knowledge building and management by identifying policy issues, synthesizing best practices, and contributing to policy development and knowledge networks.
Work Experience
Prior experience in supporting programming work, project oversight, or Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is considered an asset. Experience with digital systems, content creation, or event organization is also beneficial for this role.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical skills for data gathering and research. Proactive and goal-oriented mindset. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Excellent organizational skills. Adaptability to diverse cultural environments. Familiarity with environmental issues, particularly disaster risk reduction, is advantageous.
