National Programme Associate
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global network supporting approximately 170 countries in poverty eradication and resilience building. In Saudi Arabia, UNDP partners with the government to achieve Vision 2030 goals through capacity development and technical assistance. The National Programme Associate supports the Country Office Programme Unit, reporting to the Programme Analyst, and ensures compliance with UNDP procedures.
Job Purpose
The National Programme Associate provides essential programme support services within the UNDP Saudi Arabia Country Office Programme Unit. This role is crucial for the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of projects, particularly those contributing to the Support to QOL Project and Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. The incumbent ensures operational coordination and adherence to UNDP policies and procedures, contributing to the overall success of the Country Office's development mandate. By managing project activities, budgets, and reporting, the Associate facilitates smooth project execution and supports partnership development, ultimately contributing to sustainable development priorities in the Kingdom.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and monitor programme activities, ensuring alignment with approved work plans and budgets. Support the preparation and review of procurement plans and requests. Manage project financial records, including budget tracking and revisions. Assist in preparing Annual Project Reports (APR) and other corporate reporting requirements, monitoring key indicators, risks, and gender markers. Facilitate partnership development by maintaining donor databases, preparing profiles, and coordinating with government counterparts and development partners. Support programme monitoring by preparing implementation updates, assisting with audits, and maintaining project agreements. Contribute to knowledge management by organizing training, supporting knowledge sharing, and documenting lessons learned and best practices. Provide backup support to programme personnel as needed.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive administrative, management, or programme experience is required with secondary education. Alternatively, four years of relevant experience is required with a Bachelor's degree. Experience at both national and international levels is desirable.
Skills
Project management principles and practices, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web-based management systems, coordination of multiple activities, strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, ability to work in multicultural environments. Desirable: UN Results-Based Management (RBM), monitoring and evaluation, government liaison, UNDP policies and procedures, ERP systems (e.g., UNDP Quantum).
