Communications Associate
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Türkiye Country Office is implementing its 2026-2030 Country Programme Document, focusing on good governance, social development, economic development, and climate action. The office manages a diverse portfolio exceeding $40 million annually, supporting refugees, economic competitiveness, and green transformation. This role sits within the Management unit and supports the Communications Analyst.
Job Purpose
The Communications Associate supports the Communications Analyst in implementing the UNDP Türkiye Country Office's Communications Strategic Plan. This role is crucial for effectively positioning UNDP's results and value proposition through clear, coherent, and impactful communication. The associate will manage digital content, update the website, collect data for various communication products, monitor media coverage, and support public information and advocacy activities. The position contributes to amplifying results, showcasing innovation, and reinforcing UNDP's strategic positioning within Türkiye's dynamic development landscape.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of the Communications Strategic Plan. Manage and coordinate UNDP Türkiye's online presence by posting approved content on social media and the country office website, including updating project subpages and publications. Stay current with social media trends and digital media developments. Collect data and content for web stories, blogs, press releases, and fact sheets. Monitor channel traffic and engagement, preparing quarterly performance reports using social media analytics tools. Prepare daily press reviews. Support the organization of public information and advocacy activities. Monitor UNDP media coverage and prepare reports. Track incoming UNDP publications. Handle administrative tasks related to communications, including budget monitoring and maintaining a filing system. Provide translation services between English and Turkish.
Work Experience
Minimum 6 years of communications experience, including story/communication materials, video production, and website management, combined with secondary education. Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience combined with a Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
Skills
Excellent writing, interpretation, and communication skills. Strong analytical aptitude and attention to detail. Proven ability to draft written communication products (articles, reports, social media posts, press releases, web stories). Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms. Experience with social media, multimedia, and digital platforms. Experience producing print and online communication materials. Ability to interact with diverse governmental and non-governmental actors. Fluency in Turkish and English.
