Job Purpose
The Assistant for Financing and Risk Transfer plays a crucial role in supporting the UNDP's climate resilience and adaptation strategies in Mexico. The purpose of this role is to contribute to the development and implementation of risk management models, including environmental and anthropogenic risks, for rural productive chains like honey, coffee, and corn. This involves technical articulation, institutional strengthening, and methodological support for risk analysis, resilient practices, monitoring systems, and parametric insurance. The position aims to foster appropriation of these strategies by local authorities and organizations, institutionalize them into public policy, and enhance the resilience of communities and social enterprises against climate change impacts.
Responsibilities
Contribute to technical articulation and institutional strengthening by supporting SADER personnel and allied organizations in understanding and implementing integrated risk management models for environmental and anthropogenic risks. This includes guiding officials and technicians in the appropriation and institutionalization of these processes. Support methodological development and technical content production by coordinating the design, adjustment, and evaluation of parametric insurance for honey, and developing training materials for agroecological technicians and promoters. Prepare work plans, reports, and project progress updates for UNDP and donors. Facilitate the generation and exchange of field information and knowledge, participate in training, and maintain organized project records for knowledge sharing and promotion. The role also involves performing other professional duties as needed for the effective functioning of the office.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience is required with a High School Diploma, or 2 years with a Licenciatura. Experience should be in working with businesses, productive organizations, or individual producers, specifically related to small-scale honey production.
Skills
Experience in designing economic-productive and financial projects for honey and its value chain; knowledge of the productive, social, economic, and environmental context of Southern Mexico; experience in developing strategies for association and coordination with public/private entities and beekeepers' organizations; experience in multidisciplinary teams; experience in implementing financial and insurance strategies in rural sectors; field and community work experience; experience with methodologies for financial sustainability of community initiatives; experience in institutional projects related to value chains, financing, and marketing of honey for small-scale producers in Mexico.
